By accessing the Friedberg Genizah Project Site I hereby declare and agree to the following:
A- General
- I understand that the username and password allocated to me to access the FGPW are for my strict personal use, and I agree not to share them with anyone else.
- I confirm that I shall not put any image, data or information displayed in the site to commercial use of any kind, and that these will be used only for personal study and research, and, eventually, if appropriate, for publishing the results of this research in professional publications. Any such publication will have to give credit to the source of the image or data as well as to The Friedberg Genizah Project.
- I understand that despite the efforts made by the developers to ensure that the images and the accompanying metadata as well as the catalog data, bibliographical references and any other data displayed in the site are correct, precise and comprehensive, some errors or omissions may have occurred, and I will not hold the developers responsible for these errors or omissions or for any ensuing damage of any kind.
- I understand that I may be denied access to the site if I am found in breach of any of the clauses mentioned in these “Terms of Use”.
B - Images
- I have been informed that all digital images of manuscripts and fragments (as well as digitized microfilms of such fragments) displayed in the site are the property of the respective owners as mentioned on the site, are copyrighted by them, and are displayed in this site courtesy of their owners.
- I agree and confirm that I will not download, store, copy, print, reproduce or publish any of these images, or forward them to any person or organization, in any format, electronic, magnetic, printed or otherwise, without the written permission of the owners, as specified on the site.
C - Scanned Catalogs
I hereby agree and confirm that the scans of entries from Genizah catalogs and the accompanying data displayed on this site are available for scholarly purposes only, and that their source will be recognized in any such use, in the form of a full bibliographical reference to the published volume in which they appear, to be accompanied by the text credit as mentioned on the site, and by an appropriate credit to the Friedberg Genizah Project. No commercial or other use of this material is allowed, and, in particular, the scans may not be copied, printed, published or otherwise reproduced without written permission from the copyright holders.
D – Genizah-related Data
I hereby agree and confirm that the copyright to all Genizah-related data appearing in this website, including identifications, annotated transcriptions, cataloging data, translations, joins and the like, belong to their respective authors. I declare that I shall respect these rights and will make due acknowledgement, whenever quoting them, to the authors and the Friedberg Genizah Project. I further understand that as a courtesy to the library that owns the fragment, I am also requested to ask its permission for any publication of the fragment’s transcription.
E – Cooperation with FGP
I hereby agree:
- to provide FGP at my earliest convenience with a detailed list of all my publications that contain or mention original findings related to Genizah research, such as identifications, descriptions, cataloging data, transcriptions, translations or “joins” (of Genizah fragments), and to update it when fit;
-
to help FGP (when necessary) to obtain printed versions – and, when available, computerized versions - of these publications;
-
to grant FGP a non-exclusive royalties-free irrevocable license to integrate these published findings into the FGP databases, to process them in any way considered beneficial to the FGP mission and goals, and to display them on its websites or other media of publication as shall be developed from time to time by FGP. In case other permissions (by co-authors, publishers, funding agencies and the like) are also required for such a display, and FGP is informed by me about them, it will be FGP's responsibility to obtain them, and I will cooperate with it in this task;
-
to accept FGP policy to display, at its own discretion and timing, any Genizah-related finding that it is licensed to display, and to append to it and display the name of its source, origin or author.
